Three Huge Sportsbooks Team With Yankees, Bills & Others On NY Sports Betting Bid

Call it a superbid.

A quintet of FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Ballys and Seneca Nation have come together to submit a New York online sports betting bid. The first three of those five are the biggest operators in the country currently.

The New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, NYCFC and YES Network are supporting the bid, sources confirmed to playin-ny. The news was first reported by The Athletic.

“We’ve been talking about this for a while,” one source familiar with the bid said. “The groups have changed over the months.”

New York legalized online betting earlier this year and received bids to operate under that law with a deadline of Monday.

The New York State Gaming Commission released the groups that entered bids to the state later on Monday. You can see it here.

Here are the other companies seeking to serve the state, per this document:

• Kambi, working with Penn National Gaming (which owns Barstool Sportsbook and is acquiring theScore) and Fanatics. Interestingly, Fanatics recently hired former FanDuel CEO Matt King.
• Kambi (a second bid), working with Caesars Sportsbook, PointsBet, Resorts World, BetRivers and WynnBet.
• TheScore (Penn National announced the acquisition just last week)
• Bet365
• FoxBet

The big bid from FanDuel and others

Based on sheer size alone, the group projects to be a heavy favorite to be named a winning big in the process for naming NY betting operators.

FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM are the first-, second- and third-biggest US sportsbook operators across the US.
