Buffalo Bills Injury Report NFL Week 2 Monday Night Football Tennessee Titans

Gabe Davis has solidified his position as potentially the finest secondary wide receiver in the NFL. His skills are such that he could easily be the primary option for any other team in the league.

However, as Monday Night Football approaches, uncertainties still linger regarding the Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver’s status following an ankle sprain sustained during the last practice session of the week.

As we anticipate the official Buffalo Bills injury report for Monday’s home game against the Tennessee Titans, here are a few key points to consider based on the information we have so far.

Buffalo Bills injury report headline: WR Gabe Davis ‘real’ questionable

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport expressed doubts about Gabe Davis’ availability for the Bills’ Monday Night football game against the Titans.

“Although they’ll grant him an opportunity,” Rapoport commented, “the outlook appears unfavorable.”

It is evident that having Davis as part of the lineup significantly enhances the Bills’ receiving capabilities, forming one of the top 1-2 duos in the NFL alongside Stefon Diggs. Together, they contributed 210 receiving yards out of the total 297 in Buffalo’s Week 1 victory against the Rams.

If Davis is unable to play, who would take his place?

WR Isaiah McKenzie

Isaiah McKenzie, a wide receiver from Georgia, is entering his sixth year in the NFL and currently playing his fifth season with the Bills. There is a possibility that he may receive an increased number of passes from Allen.

During the previous season, Davis and Cole Beasley were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, resulting in McKenzie being summoned. In response, McKenzie delivered an impressive performance, achieving a career-best of 11 catches and 125 yards, accompanied by a touchdown. Meanwhile, Diggs contributed with seven catches, gaining 85 yards and securing a touchdown.

McKenzie had a touchdown and made two catches for 19 yards out of three targets last week.

WR Jamison Crowder

Jamison Crowder, among the Bills receivers, ranked third in terms of targets last week. He managed to catch three out of four passes, accumulating a total of 28 yards.

Crowder has proven to be a consistently dependable wide receiver throughout his career. He has excelled as a reliable No. 3 receiver and has performed adequately when given the opportunity as a No. 2. Additionally, he continues to pose a threat downfield. Prior to joining Buffalo this season, Crowder maintained an average of 10.5 yards per catch during his three-year tenure with the New York Jets.

WR Jake Kumerow/WR Khalil Shakir

Jake Kumerow might finally get an opportunity to showcase his skills as he played 24% of the snaps in Week 1 but was not targeted by Allen. Throughout his time with the Bills, he only managed to accumulate three receptions over the past two seasons.

Alternatively, there is a chance that rookie Khalil Shakir could make an appearance. Despite being selected in the fifth round from Boise State, Shakir did not see any playing time in Week 1. However, Allen could consider utilizing a collective effort from the receiving corps to fill the void left by the dynamic Gabe Davis.

Other notable players on injury report for Monday Night Football

DT Ed Oliver will not be playing in Monday’s game for the Bills due to an ankle injury. Additionally, defensive back Dane Jackson is uncertain to play due to a knee injury, despite his interception against the Rams.

For the Week 2 Monday Night Football matchup, three players from the Tennessee Titans have been declared ineligible.

  • CB Kristian Fulton (hamstring)
  • RB Dontrell Hilliard (hamstring)
  • OT Jamarco Jones (elbow)

Furthermore, in the event that WR Kyle Philips (shoulder) is labeled as questionable, the Titans might have an opening for additional support if their leading receiver from Week 1 is unable to participate or is restricted.

Consequently, the Titans have recently promoted Josh Gordon from the practice squad. The controversial wide receiver joined Tennessee after playing in 12 games for the Kansas City Chiefs in the previous season. Within those games, he recorded five receptions on 14 attempts, resulting in 32 yards and a touchdown.
